Clean energy technology has had a big impact on today’s economy and environment, becoming one of the fastest growing sectors to invest in. In an Investing News article, it was quoted by BDO Global that clean tech’s revenue for 2023 will see $600 billion in global private investments.
According to GOV.UK, air pollution within the UK is the largest environmental risk to public health and is estimated to cost the NHS and Social Care system £1.6 billion between 2017 and 2025.
In an ideal world, countries should work to achieve sustainability by reducing air pollution, conserving natural resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as improving energy efficiency. One company that is already making inroads on emission reduction is Pi Green Innovations, who are finding sustainable and efficient ways of living by developing technology solutions to reduce pulverated matter emissions at the source.
Founded in 2019 by Co-founder and CEO, Irfan Pathan and Co-Founder and Inventor, Rizwan Shaikh; Pi Green Innovations has been a great success in India and its current environmental concerns. They have made it their mission to innovate solutions for a sustainable environment and make clean air accessible to everyone, as well as empowering organizations to address the issue of severe public health scares through their air filtration technology.
India’s population of 1.4 billion people, are exposed to unhealthy levels of ambient PM 2.5 according to IQAir. These particles are easily inhaled, causing serious complications to the brain, heart, lungs and other organs, which has resulted in a number of health conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and cancer. There are roughly 7 million fatalities globally each year due to air pollution, with transport accounting for roughly 30%.
Pi Green Innovations have created “The Carbon Cutter” manufactured for vehicles and gensets, which reduces PM pollution by over 90%. The device has been made to simply put into an exhaust pipe and leaves any residue to be collected and reused as paint or ink. These devices operate on the same patented technology and present several USPs by being filterless.
Due to regulations in India that mandate the user gensets to take measures such as installing a Retrofit Emission Control Device (RECD), Pi Green Innovations is well placed to contribute significantly to the environment through their Carbon Cutter Machine which is a government lab type approved device. This has led to partnerships with some of the most recognisable names in the diesel engine manufacturing space, such as Cummins India and Caterpillar India . The resulting sales and distribution channel has assisted and facilitated their growth and given the business a huge boost.
Pi Green Innovations has raised a total of $4.8M in funding over 2 rounds, with their latest funding raised at Series A, by lead investors, Opus Consulting. They have expanded from India to Europe, China, Japan, Singapore and the USA with a positive Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in multiple countries. Irfan and Rizwan have committed to creating sustainable solutions for a greener future.
In 2018, Pi Green Innovations won the Smogathon award, in Poland which prompted their expansion into Europe. They have initiated exploring channel partners to provide ambient air purification solutions in Poland’s airports and railway stations.
Pi Green Innovations are already having a measurable impact on the environment with their current products but are far from done. They have developed a new device called the “Net Zero”which captures Carbon Dioxide by more than 50% and other gas particles by 70%. The team are planning on launching this by May 2023 and are pursuing a number of other projects in the meantime.
The climate tech space is currently booming. With a wide range of different products out there, many of which are still conceptual, Pi Green Innovations are offering a practical and tested solution to a very real problem. With the potential to improve the lives of millions, this exciting and innovative startup is definitely one to watch!
